The FX channel has announced that Charlie Sheen's upcoming series ANGER MANAGEMENT, based on the 2003 movie starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, will begin airing on the network in summer 2012. The sitcom will tell the story of a troubled therapist who needs counseling of his own.

The cable network has given an initial order of 10 episodes for Sheen's new series and production is set to begin in early 2012. If proven successful, an additional 90 episodes will be ordered, with plans for syndication beginning in 2014.

John Landgraf, head of the FX network believes ANGER MANAGEMENT is a "wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie's acting talents."

Sheen was last seen in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men".  He was fired from that show last March after clashing with the show's producers.  Actor Ashton Kutcher has since replaced him on the show and it remains a top 10 show with solid ratings. It was recently announced that a $100 million wrongful termination lawsuit brought by Sheen over his dismissal  has reached a settlement.

According to FX, Sheen will have  "significant ownership stake" in this new series.
