TVLine.com reports that AMERICAN HORROR STORY co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the secretive setting for Season 2 of the drama series. Murphy made his comments at yesterday's Academy of Television Arts & Sciences event honoring the show.

“[Season 2] is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica [Lange's new character],” shared Murphy.

The writer added that the show's sophomore season would take place in “a completely different time period.” He also confirmed recent rumors that Maroon 5 lead singer and 'Voice' judge Adam Levine will be featured on Season 2. Commented Murphy, “He’s a sexy guy so he needs to play a sexy guy, but the guy that is different than who you think he would play. I pitched him the part and he listened, slack jawed, and simply said, ‘I’m in.’”

As previously reported, actors Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe will all return for Season 2 but as different characters.
