A remake of the classic "A Star is Born," the most recent rendition starring Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson and Gary Busey in 1976, is moving along in the development process at Warner Bros. Pictures after years of treading water.

"A Star is Born" is about a rising music business starlet who falls in love with a famous male star, only just before their careers take opposite turns.

The film is being produced by Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk are producing. Will Fetters ("The Lucky One," "Remember Me") has been hired to write the new script after previous versions by Stephen Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson ("Ali"), and Reggie Rock Bythewood ("Notorious") had been rejected.

Three previous film versions of the film have been released, the last being the 1976 version with Streisand and Kristofferson. As in this last incarnation, the newest version in the works will be set in the music industry instead of the movie business as in the first two original films.  Details regarding filming and a release have yet to be announced.
