South African Oscar Pistorius captured the world's attention last year when he made history as the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics. Known as the Blade Runner, Pistorius is now making news around the world once again, only this time for allegedly murdering his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Steenkamp was fatally shot by Pistorius in the bathroom of the star athlete's home this past Valentine's Day. But was the killing a cold-blooded murder or an accident?

"20/20" travels to South Africa to dig deeper into the investigation. ABC News Correspondent Amy Robach speaks with those who know Pistorius best -- including exclusive interviews with Dr. Gerry Versfeld, a long-time family friend and the Doctor Who amputated Pistorius' legs; and Keven Lerena, a friend of both Pistorius and Steenkamp who says he was present when Pistorius accidentally shot his pistol in a previous incident. Robach also sits down with Steenkamp's former boyfriend and her roommate, among others, and recreates Pistorius' bedroom/bathroom for an inside look at what investigators - and the defense team -- say might have happened that fateful night.

The hour also features a report by Chris Connelly on Olympic athletes falling off of the pedestal. "The Fast Times of Oscar Pistorius" airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, MARCH 1 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer and John Green is executive producer.
