ALONG CAME A SPIDER

Along Came A Spider is emerging as one of today's leading underground acts. Although they have been dropping anchor all over the states, they are unafraid to fly the colors of their proud hometown Cleveland, Ohio. First, they stayed faithful to the city by recording their debut full-length at Studio D within the famous Agora Theater complex. Then they were given the honor of becoming the flagship artist on Cleveland-based Turning Point Records. This fall marks the release of If We Were Normal Men, both the label and the band's statement album – their collective "Hello, World!" Produced by Don DeBiase (Modern Day Escape, Beneath The Sky, For All Those Sleeping) the record definitively showcases the extremes of evolution one rising group can undertake within a year. It's a progression embraced by ACAS' strong fan base since formation in 2009. Call it a new chapter; fitting for an album that tells a different tale within every song. The band always keeps a busy schedule, an ethos that includes passes through numerous states, festival appearances and support slots alongside Haste The Day, Story of the Year, Memphis May Fire, In Fear & Faith, Motionless In White, Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Chiodos, A Skylit Drive, Suicide Silence, Adestria, Dance Gavin Dance, My Ticket Home, Affiance, Salt The Wound, Ventana, Casino Madrid, The Word Alive, City Lights, The Bunny The Bear, Stick To Your Guns, and more. ACAS has also gained notoriety for their comedic web series and energetic demeanor. This is an outfit with a reputation for thrilling performance, a penchant for moving around A LOT. They enjoy a rare camaraderie with their fans, affectionately known as Arachnids. Named after a novel, it is only appropriate to narrate the most recent ACAS chronicle as follows. In January 2011, the band released an EP that spawned sensible internet buzz and even got a nod from Tom Denney of A Day To Remember fame. Many revisions to the story occurred within the subsequent twelve months. Most notably, founding members Justin Sobota and Ian McQueen re-shaped the entire line-up. In doing so, they organically became a family. Sobota's distinct guitar rhythms coupled with McQueen's rock-solid low end had already formed the core of ACAS' sound. But it was the addition of lead singer Carl Dolvin that ushered in the new incarnation of the band's identity: alternating soaring vocal melodies and aggressive screams over bruising riffs and layers. To display this new direction, they unleashed their aptly titled May 2011 single "Blood Sweat & Member Changes" and promptly lived up to that declaration by recruiting Tony Castillo to solidify the drums. Then John Calo came aboard on piano/synth and they acquired Luke Fockler to dial in some blazing lead guitar. Seemingly, Along Came A Spider has found their voice... one that includes their trademark blend of infectiously catchy hooks with attacking verses, massive breakdowns and intricate guitar harmonies. Add in a dash of keyboards, driving percussion and bass, and those aforementioned soaring vocals, and you can map out the course the band has set sail. Hailing from the home of Rock and Roll, this group may have just been handed the torch.
