WINYAH Share New Single "Drawing A Blank" Ahead of Sophomore Album
The single follows previously released tracks "Rat Race" and precedes new headline tour dates across multiple countries.
WINYAH have shared a new single from their sophomore album 'RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW' out September 18 on Cloverdale Records. On the gritty and raucous 'Drawing A Blank,' the band skewers the recurring burden of small talk—comically: I can't relate to drunken debates / When it's getting late, the smiles are fake / It's always about you / Isn't that cute? In music and in life, Winyah is looking for honesty.
Today's offering follows 'Rat Race,' 'Spinning,' and 'Canopy,' singles shared amidst countless sold-out headlines and plays alongside Mt. Joy and Flipturn among others. The band's latest champions include Fender Guitars who selected Winyah as a Fender Next Artist, as well as tastemakers at Spin, Flood Magazine, Paste Magazine, Relix, Atwood Mag, DittyTV, Audiotree, and more.
Winyah shares: 'This one is about the countless repetitive, formulaic conversations that are inevitable in life, especially in social settings. Everyone has been in a conversation where they feel like they're just going through the motions, and eventually you just don't know what else to say. Why respond to a question someone already knows the answer to? Tell me something different!'
Winyah's 2025 debut 'LOT TO LEARN' introduced a band on the brink, a kinetic blend of unassailable talent and full-throttle passion that sold out their very first headline tour and placed them on stages at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. But call it all kindling, those accomplishments of 'Lot To Learn,' because their sophomore offering is pure combustion.
Co-produced by Winyah and Matt Zutell of Coast Records, 'RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW' is a storm of indie rock bliss, swirling and cathartic and wildly alive—the sound of a band claiming momentum. 'Much of this album came from transitory moments between tours,' shares lead vocalist Thomas Rowland. 'Lying in our backyard, feeling the weight of our goals, where we're headed, and where we want to be—but also just feeling thankful for the time to sit in it, to recognize what's happening.'
Winyah are currently on tour. Later this fall, in addition to support for Flipturn, the band will headline across the Midwest and East Coast with support from Old Mervs and Foxtide. After two sold-out nights at Bowery Ballroom this spring, Winyah will return to NYC to play 1,800-cap Brooklyn Steel in November. Come 2027, they'll make their debut in Australia.
