Tom Godfrey and Lori Guy to Bring Great American Songbook Classics to Hungry Ear Coffee House, 8/2

By:

Classics from the Great American Songbook of the '30s, '40s, and '50s performed by Tom Godfrey and jazz singer, Lori Guy will be on tap at the Hungry Ear Coffee House on August 2nd, along with acoustic songwriter, Wil Hodge and down-home country and gospel vocalist, Keren Leppo.

Reborn as a jazz guitarist in 2003 from classical trombone, Tom Godfrey sings and plays his own solo arrangements of jazz classics. He is the music director at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Performing with Lori Guy since 2011, Tom's elegant Swing and Latin guitar arrangements underscore Lori's personal vocal delivery to produce a sound that is light and fun, and can take you into another world. They love playing for parties, weddings, and swing dances, and now have a regular post at the Noosh in Johns Creek. Accompanying Godfrey and Guy will be Robert Dickson on Bass, and Reed Lukat on Tenor Sax.

Characterized by soulful vocals, poignant lyrics and percussive guitar, Keren Leppo's sweet and rollicking down-home sound is rooted in a rich history of gospel, country, rock n roll, bluegrass, blues and soul. The blending of such diverse backgrounds has resulted in a musical style of widespread appeal.

Versatile songwriter, guitarist and producer/engineer, Wil Hodge showcases both his acoustic and electric guitar talents along with his vocal storytelling style that crosses through Country, Rock and R&B. Will can be found every Sunday morning playing guitar at Unity North Church in Marietta, Georgia with the house band.
