Sarah Jaffe is thrilled to be joining Cindy Wilson - founding member of the legendary new wave rock band The B-52s - for a short tour of the US. This will be the first US trek for Jaffe - who has done a handful of one off shows in NYC, LA and Austin - since the release of her stunning new full-length studio album Bad Baby - that came out in July via Kirtland Records.
The new album is the fourth for the Texas born singer-songwriter who co-produced Bad Baby with Matt Pence (Centro-Matic, Jens Lekman, Here We Go Magic) and Scott Solter (Okkervil River, The Mountain Goats, John Vanderslice). Bad Baby has been well received by the media and after premiering the title track, NPR featured the album in their "First Listen" series writing, "she sounds as versatile as ever in songs that mix spiky synth-pop with softer, slower-burning reflections on the way human beings interact" and had Interview called the release, "...her strongest yet." Bad Baby was also selected by The Grammy folks as one of the "15 Best Albums of July 2017" alongside Haim, Arcade Fire, Mura Masa and Tyler, The Creator.
In addition to releasing a new album this summer, earlier this year Jaffe had the honor of contributing music to Oculus Studio's Emmy Nominated andSundance Selected Virtual Reality Short Film "Dear Angelica."
Jaffe has done a handful of one off shows since the album dropped, including dates in NYC and LA and at the end of September she played a special Austin, TX performance for KUTX who, after naming Jaffe their "Artist of the Month" for July, invited her to kick off their "KUTX Live at Mueller fall concert series" at the Mueller Lake Park Amphitheater on September 22nd.
In addition to joining Cindy Wilson for a string of dates later this year, Jaffe will also be playing the GAS Fest in Davenport, IA on November 9th, headlining Texas Monthly's "Edge of Texas" event on Saturday, November 11th at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, doing a The Dividends show with longtime collaborator S1 in Dallas on November 15th at the Wheelhouse and joining the Overcoats on December 5th for a show at Globe Hall in Denver, CO. Confirmed dates below.
