A 10-track blast of fuzzed-out guitars, big hooks, crooner melodies, romantic delusion, and self-inflicted emotional damage, No Love Lost is Sweet Gloom turned all the way up. After the polished sha-la-la charm of their 2023 debut LP Reverie (Asian Man Records), No Love Lost hits harder and leaves more blood on the floor.
Produced by Ryan Perras and recorded at District Recording in San Jose, No Love Lost captures Sweet Gloom as a full band, with frontman Jaake Margo joined by Avery Okamura (lead guitar/vocals), Chris Clark (bass/vocals), and Morris Carrillo (drums). It is louder, rawer, and closer to the band's live show, tearing through crushes, bad timing, giving up, losing your mind, falling too hard, and trying to outrun feelings that already caught you.
Focus track and album opener 'Last' sets the tone with a question that feels both hopeful and doomed: what if this one actually works out? Written after the end of a long relationship, the song looks toward something that might finally last, even if history suggests otherwise. It features Kent Soliday (Save Face, Just Friends) on backing vocals and Randy Moore (Bones Shredder) on second guitar.
Across No Love Lost, Sweet Gloom throw themselves into every doomed crush, bad idea, and late-night spiral with the kind of commitment that makes heartbreak sound almost fun. Lead single 'Box Dye' turned a soul-crushing crush into a blown-out doo-wop punk anthem. 'Stargazer' looked up at someone destined for something bigger and hoped to meet them somewhere in the stars. 'Lips' captured the ugly guilt that can linger after a breakup.
Sweet Gloom will celebrate the album with a record release show on Friday, August 28 at Permanent Records Roadhouse in Los Angeles. This fall, the band will head out on a US tour leading into two sets at FEST 24 in Gainesville, FL October 24-25.

About Sweet Gloom
Sweet Gloom is a punk band from Los Angeles with stars in their eyes and love in their hearts. They don't care much about anything besides rock and roll, the death of fascism, and falling in and out of love as fast as possible. Their songs bring together old-school crooner melodies, big hooks, and fast, lovesick punk – like Elvis fronting the Ramones in the middle of a doomed Hollywood romance.
Following their 2023 debut LP Reverie, Sweet Gloom returns with a rougher edge on their sophomore album, No Love Lost: 10 tracks of energetic, big-hearted I'm wreckage, delivered with the same signature sha-la-la sweetness that makes even their most nihilistic moments feel romantic. No Love Lost is out August 21 via Sneak Dog Records.
