Jazz Legend Arturo Sandoval Joins World Premiere of 'LA LA LAND In Concert' at the Hollywood Bowl

Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) today announced that 10-time Grammy®-winning jazz legend Arturo Sandoval will join the world premiere of LA LA LAND IN CONCERT: A LIVE-TO-FILM CELEBRATION, taking place at Los Angeles' iconic Hollywood Bowl on Memorial Day weekend Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27. Composer Justin Hurwitz will conduct his Oscar®-winning score and Oscar®-winning song "City of Stars" performed live-to-film by a 100-piece symphony orchestra, choir, and jazz ensemble, accompanying the film's original vocal recordings.

Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene Kelly's wife and biographer, will introduce the film and help celebrate the golden age of movie musicals.

Sandoval will lead the handpicked Los Angeles jazz ensemble, many of whom are featured on the film's original soundtrack. "One of the joys of LA LA LAND is its celebration of jazz! This great American art form is so beautifully interlaced throughout the film," Sandoval said. "I'm thrilled to be part of this project, which not only exquisitely showcases jazz to its fans, but also swings its way into the hearts of new audiences." In keeping with the film's embrace of jazz, its traditions, and its future, the young members of Los Angeles' Hamilton Academy of Music Jazz Combo will perform as the evening's opening act on the Hollywood Bowl's historic stage to a packed audience.

"The two key words in LA LA LAND IN CONCERT: A LIVE-TO-FILM CELEBRATION are 'live' and 'celebration,' " says the concert's director Richard Kraft. "Our goal is to translate the film experience into something that would live and breathe as a night at The Hollywood Bowl. To achieve this, we embrace the magic of the film musical by taking the orchestral and jazz score elements out from behind-the-scenes and bringing them to life in front of the audience. Preserving the unique recorded vocal performances by Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and John Legend from the film's soundtrack, we blend these with live musicians and are able to build a one-of-kind concert experience that becomes a hybrid of film, pre-recordings, and incredible live musicianship."

This world premiere event will celebrate the film and embrace the legendary Los Angeles venue with an array of delights, including mapped projections on the Hollywood Bowl, a grand fireworks spectacular, a display of the film's original Oscar®-nominated costumes, and unique red carpet pre-show photo opportunities. LA LA LAND or Hollywood-inspired dress is encouraged.
