For the 40th anniversary of Country Music supergroup Alabama, Lightning Rod Records assembled a wide variety of artists to record covers of their hits and lesser-known album cuts. High Cotton: A Tribute To Alabama features artists ranging from legendary gospel blues group Blind Boys of Alabama to gritty Memphis rockers Lucero to country soul shouter JD McPherson who put their unique spin on the Alabama repertoire.

The winding track listing of Alabama's catalog take listeners through Texas heroes like Wade Bowen and Jason Boland and the Stragglers to Generation Y performers like Jessica Lea Mayfield and her ethereal rendition of "I'm In A Hurry." Old Crow Medicine Show showcase the number one song "Dixieland Delight."

A select number of the participating artists will pay tribute to Alabama live on Saturday, September 21st at Grimey's New and Preloved Music in Nashville as part of Americanarama.

QUOTES FROM THE ARTISTS:

"They wrote songs that made a lasting impression on the Southland. If that's all my music could do, I'd be proud to have done it."

- Ketch Secor, Old Crow Medicine show in American Songwriter Magazine

"There's a reason Alabama is the biggest country band of all time: The songs they recorded are great reflections on what it's like to live and love in the South."

- Jason Isbell

"Alabama's music is part of the country music catalogue that represents my childhood. They really have great songs, and it's nice to see that those songs haven't been lost or forgotten. Also, if you didn't notice, they use and showcase the fiddle. More folks should incorporate fiddles in their bands, for some reason it works..."

- Amanda Shires

"Alabama was a family favorite in my household growing up. My older sisters were obsessed and took me to every concert they could so I became a huge fan myself. To pay tribute to them is for sure a dream come true. Very honored!"

- Wade Bowen
