On December 31st at 7PM, Music for Life International presents the 2011 New Year's Eve Concert for Peace.  Created by musical icon Leonard Bernstein in 1983, the New Year's Eve Concert for Peace at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine has become a major New York City cultural landmark over the past three decades.

The centerpiece of this year's concert will feature Tippett's oratorio A Child of Our Time, an extended choral meditation on political violence and discrimination against minorities, migrants and other vulnerable communities.  This year's program is a celebration of African-American music and the spiritual as a place of sanctuary for all people.

Sharing the stage with host Harry Smith of NBC's "Rock Center with BrIan Williams" are world-renowned stars of opera: soprano Indra Thomas, mezzo-soprano Rachel Calloway and bass Morris Robinson, along with The Dessoff Choirs led by Christopher Shepard, and the Ubuntu-Shruti Orchestra, under the baton of artistic director George Mathew.

General admission is free. Reserved seating is $60. To purchase reserved seats, please visit
