Deerhoof's 13th album was released to accolades bleeding across borders. La Isla Bonita is at once their most punk and commercially accessible record to date, currently reigning at #3 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart, and #5 in the Billboard Top Vinyl Albums. Not bad for a low-budget DIY punk band celebrating their 20th year. Drummer Greg Saunier exposes the dilemma: "how do you refuse to participate in this fantasy of mainstream culture?"

Those who balk at Deerhoof's disjunctive style are unlikely to be soothed by today's release of "Exit Only (Perfect Pussy Remix)". Using Deerhoof's original stems from their basement recording sessions, frenetic noise punk band Perfect Pussy reimagined an industrial wasteland of dystopian proportions. Satomi's sweet melodies discordantly collide with Perfect Pussy's cavernous metallic squealing and clashing while extending the original to over ten minutes long. It's the futuristic and dark underbelly of Deerhoof that only Perfect Pussy could noisily create. The original "Exit Only" was propelled into the IMVDb Top40 by a music video starring Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire).

Deerhoof has not been shy in their admiration of the remix: "Shaun [Sutkus, Perfect Pussy's keyboardist] sent this to us last week, minutes before we went onstage at The Troubadour and played our best show of the tour. Coincidence?" asks Greg.

The outrageously charming foursome toured America this fall, inviting friends Lightning Bolt, Cibo Matto and Priests to join them. Today, they announce an international tour taking them through the US, Europe & Japan including a stop at SXSW 2015.
