Victoria Fine Foods announced today the launch of the "Read Your Label" movement to encourage families to be more aware of the ingredients in their food. Like its hometown, Brooklyn, Victoria is a leader of positive change in the food industry. Founded in 1929, Victoria continues to craft premium pasta sauces with only a handful of fresh ingredients - no water, no paste, and no sugar added. Eric L. Adams, Brooklyn Borough President, proclaimed September 7, 2016 "Read Your Label Day," stating, "All of Brooklyn joins today to recognize and honor Victoria Fine Foods for its outstanding contributions to increase public awareness about the importance of choosing healthier options."

Victoria's Read Your Label movement encourages people to know the ingredients in their food. According to the Nielsen Global Health & Wellness Study, more than half of respondents (57%) are expanding their diets with more natural, fresh foods. However, Victoria's own research shows that pasta sauce buyers still habitually purchase, serve and eat food with preservatives and artificial ingredients. These consumers are surprised at what they find when they are asked to turn around their brand's jar and read the label. Therefore, Victoria wants to help people make healthier lifestyle choices by making them more informed. People need to know what's in their food, and by whom and where it's made. All of these factors impact the way they feed their family. Victoria is also a leader in compliance with the new FDA ruling around communication around added sugar they never add sugar to any of their sauces. At Victoria, Ingredients Come First TM; it was the first major pasta sauce brand to put its ingredients on the front of its label and is now at the vanguard of the Read Your Label movement.

Victoria's Read Your Label movement is supported by an integrated campaign including:

Victoria has joined forces with Mitzi Dulan, America's Nutrition Expert, the Team Nutritionist for the World Champion Kansas City Royals and a mom. Mitzi enthusiastically endorses Victoria because it is a sauce she would serve her own family. Unlike most major pasta sauce brands, Victoria manufactures premium sauces with a handful of the freshest, wholesome ingredients and has NO added sugar, water or preservatives. Notably, Victoria is slow kettle-cooked in its Brooklyn headquarters to craft the homemade taste it has been making for generations. Mitzi will be featured in advertising and marketing materials to support the Read Your Label movement with the tagline "Nutritious Has Never Been So Delicious."

Victoria and Mitzi are hosting a Read Your Label Day press conference, September 7th at The Kitchen Table in NYC to announce the movement. Back to school is the perfect time to launch this effort because families are beginning new routines and can start healthier habits. The 11:30 AM 1:30 PM event starts with a reading of the official proclamation followed by a luncheon reception featuring an array of Victoria Fine Foods sauces and products.

Victoria and Mitzi are asking consumers to share our pledge and join the Read Your Label movement. Consumers can show their support by sharing Victoria's Facebook post or using #ReadYourLabel. For every share or hashtagged post, Victoria will donate $1 (up to $10,000) to Spoons Across America, a not-for-profit organization that teaches children healthy eating habits.
