Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt in Southern Utah, has partnered with Southern Utah University (SUU) to promote the Thunderkids program. Children in the eighth grade and younger can sign up to be a member and connect with their favorite local athletic teams.

Franchise owners, Shane and Virginia Smith have long been passionate about influencing the community beyond their store. Sponsoring programs such as SUU's Thunderkids program is a great way to unify the community while supporting a worthy cause.

"As a business, we are a part of a community and should take an active role to impact it for the better," said Virginia Smith. "Sponsoring local programs that benefit kids and those in need can make a big difference in a small way."

By sponsoring, Sub Zero Ice Cream attends Thunderkids events to provide a delicious treat while the kids interact with their favorite players. In Addition, kids receive special discounts and other benefits like playing basketball with their favorite players.

"There is nothing more rewarding than seeing each kid with a big smile on their face as they eat ice cream and play ball with athletes," said Shane Smith. "Kids are the future of any community, so we are glad to help support them and encourage them to participate in wholesome activities."

Sub Zero Ice Cream also supports the local schools by conducting interactive science presentations for students of all ages. The Smiths love going to schools and educating children on how science impacts everything from the air around us to the food we eat.
