This year, visitors to Nova Scotia can fish for lobster, sleep on a private island, raft on the highest tides in the world, and so much more. With direct flights from major US cities like New York and Boston, visitors will find easy access to a range of authentically local experiences for a full immersion in Nova Scotia's coastal culture.

Lobster Fisher for the Day

At White Point Beach Resort, guests can earn serious bragging rights by stepping into the boots of a Nova Scotia lobster fisher. The two-night Great Canadian Lobster Fishing Feast experience includes: an exclusive meet and greet with the captain and crew featuring Nova Scotia's signature wine, Tidal Bay and lobster croquettes; Lobster 101 Orientation to learn about the fishing equipment and gear; half-day sunrise lobster fishing expedition aboard a 37-foot lobster boat, helping the crew measure and band the lobsters, as they haul in dozens of traps; an executive chef-prepared ocean-side feast made with the freshly caught crustaceans and wine pairing; two nights in a one-bedroom oceanfront cottage; daily breakfast; and more.

The two-night package is available March 23-25, April 6-8, April 13-15 and May 4-8. Price is $699 CAD per person (based on double occupancy); $857 per person CAD for single occupancy.

Sleep on a Private Island

Just off the coast of Blue Rocks fishing village near Lunenburg on the South Shore of Nova Scotia is a small private island ready to welcome adventurers. The Private Island Yurt for Two adventure from Pleasant Paddling features guided kayaking to a seal colony and hidden inlets perfect for snorkeling, bike rentals and picnic lunch, followed by an overnight private island stay in a hand-crafted yurt with a clear skylight ceiling for star-gazing. The excursion also includes a locally-sourced dinner of mussels and charcuterie, and breakfast. Price is $600 CAD for a single; $899 CAD for a double. Available to book on June 25, July 16, August 27 and September 17.

Ride the Tides

Thrill seekers can head to the Shubenacadie River to ride the racing waters with the Fundy Tides & Fireside Adventure by Tidal Bore Rafting Resort. The guided experience begins with a gourmet seafood and wine tasting on a private sandbar in the middle of the river. As the river reverses it flow inland, guests will climb aboard a zodiac boat to ride the coppery tidal bore waves and witness one of nature's most unique shows. When the waves subside, the excursion is completed with some fun in the mud - slipping and sliding down the muddy river banks. The overnight package includes the rafting and mud sliding tour, sandbar tasting, an overnight stay in a charming pine cottage and fireside lobster boil, paired with local music and Nova Scotia rum. The one night package starts at $439 CAD per person or $719 CAD per couple. Dates available: June 15 and 30, July 1, September 1 and 12.

Gourmet Garden Party

Located in Grand Pré in the Annapolis Valley, the award-winning Tangled Garden is prized for its fresh herb garden, wildflower labyrinth and production of jams, chutneys, mustards, vinegars and liqueurs. The new Gourmet Garden Party food tour is available on July 11, August 15, September 5, and September 19. The expert-led journey starts with a glass of sparkling Nova Scotia wine, followed by exploration of the gardens. Pop-up tastings are tucked away in hidden nooks throughout featuring fresh seafood, pairings of herbs and local delicacies, rum and more. A picnic lunch is served at the top of garden, accompanied by local musicians. Price is $195 CAD per person or $360 CAD per couple.

Fundy Sunrise Yoga

Starting at day break, the one-hour yoga session takes place on the cliffs of Cape d'Or overlooking the Bay of Fundy and concludes with a relaxing neck massage, using locally-made balsam fir oil. A lobster-inspired brunch is served beside one of Nova Scotia's picturesque lighthouses, followed by a guided one and a half hour kayak tour amongst the world's highest tides.
