Celebrity Chef Justin Warner Creates Mario-Inspired Halloween Cereal Treat

Just in time for Halloween, "Food Network Star," cookbook author and TV personality, Chef Justin Warner, created a recipe that celebrates the launch of the highly anticipated Super Mario Odyssey video game.

The popular Brooklyn-based chef and serious gamer, concocted a Mario-inspired mustache shaped treat called Super Stache Snacks, featuring a mix made with Honey Bunches of Oats cereal covered in dark chocolate and placed on a stick to provide an edible Halloween disguise.

Chef Warner will demonstrate the recipe live during the official game launch event outside the Nintendo NY store in New York City on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5:15 5:35 p.m and 8:15 8:35 p.m.

The event marks the culmination of a nationwide tour and will include live music, Mario appearances, video game demos and a flash mob performance. The game goes on sale at midnight, Friday, Oct. 27.

Super Stache Snacks Recipe

6 cups Honey Bunches of Oats with Crispy Almonds cereal
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup almond butter
1 cup dark chocolate chips
2 tsp coconut oil
Black food coloring (optional)
Popsicle sticks (optional)

Combine corn syrup and sugar over medium heat until boiling, stirring frequently.Mix hot syrup with nut butter, then combine with cereal.Turn cereal mixture on to a non-stick sprayed cookie or baking sheet. Use sprayed parchment to press firmly.Cool to room temperature before cutting with a mustache-shaped cookie cutter. Melt the chocolate chips over medium heat with the coconut oil, stirring frequently. Pour or brush the chocolate over the shaped snack bars. Let cool before inserting a popsicle stick in the middle.

You can find entry codes on specially marked boxes of Post cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, Grape Nuts, Honeycomb, Golden Crisp, Alpha Bits and Malt-O-Meal cereals like Honey Graham Toasters, Coco Roos and Marshmallow Mateys.

Codes on select Post Consumer Brand cereal boxes can be redeemed by sweepstakes entrants for My Nintendo Platinum Points, which can be redeemed for select downloadable rewards through the My Nintendo rewards program. The Malt-O-Meal codes can be redeemed for a special downloadable wallpaper. A Nintendo Account is required to receive and redeem My Nintendo Platinum Points.
