We name Carmine's in the heart of the Theater District as our "Bar of the Week." Known for its sweeping layout and generous portions of classic Italian dishes, Carmine's is also your destination for top-notch Times Square cocktails. Just like their pastas and appetizers, the mixed drinks at Carmine's are completely delicious.

Indulge in one of Carmine's favorites, the "Chocolate Martini" or an Italian ice-style "Blood Orange Margarita," either as a gateway to a dessert or as a replacement for it. Carmine's will also offer you food that perfectly accompanies your exploration of the cocktail menu. Pair the hot antipasto against the chilled martinis, or the cold antipasto against the smoky "Very Italian Manhattan." And by all means, have Carmine's signature and substantial mozzarella garlic bread with any drink.

Not every cocktail at Carmine's is native to Italy. Though if tried and true Italian cocktails are what you're after, Carmine's has you more than covered with drinks like "Carmine's Negroni." They don't try to tamp down the Campari liquor that anchors a true Negroni, but chills and proportions the drink to make it more seductive than usual. A clear crowd-pleaser is "Junior's Mango Martini," a refreshing drink even in the heart of winter. Carmine's cocktail menu would not be complete without a nod to Frank Sinatra with their special "Sinatra's Iced Tea" and one of their non-alcoholic selections, "Frankie Blue Eyes." And their special red or white Sangria is served in a generous 23 ounce individual "punch bowl." If you're more in the mood for wine, sparkling or beer, Carmine's has an excellent selection to choose from.

During your visit, you will have the benefit of friendly service and bartender's recommendations, including a few that are surprising but fascinatingly apt. Turns out, we learned on our last visit that a shot of Patron is a good defense against the cold. Yet, with delightful cocktails and Carmine's welcoming atmosphere, the harsh weather outside will be the last thing on your mind.

Just steps away from your favorite shows, Carmine's in the Theater District is perfect for a pre-theater and post-theater stop and be sure to come by for their wonderful dinner fare. They are located at 200 West 44th Street, New York, NY 10036. You can call them at (212) 221-3800 or visit their web site http://www.carminesnyc.com.
