The production features an original jazz score by Craig Harris, with Ilya Vidrin also making his Pillow debut.
Jacob's Pillow will welcome back Urban Bush Women to the Ted Shawn Theatre Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 5. In this special engagement for Festival Week 2, the legendary Black women-led theatrical dance company, founded by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, will present SCAT!...The Complex Lives of Al & Dot, Dot & Al Zollar. Featuring an original jazz music score by Craig Harris, performed by seven musicians, SCAT! shines a light on love, family history, and resilience.
The second week of the Festival will also include Pillow Lab artist Ilya Vidrin making his Pillow debut with Proxies in the Doris Duke Theatre Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. With in-the-round seating and live music created in real time by the musicians in response to the dancers, Proxies highlights the intersection of dance and technology, exploring what sensors with body-tracking data reveals about human connection and what slips through.
The outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage will feature Compañía Nélida Tirado Flamenco's Tierra, Aire y Compàs, a powerful celebration of rhythm, dance, and live music on Thursday, July 2. On Saturday, July 4, audiences are welcome to join Jacob's Pillow on Independence Day in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
