Carlson Family Stage Set in Verona, Italy, Shakespeare's Romeo and Julietis the classic story of a long-lasting feud between the powerful Montague and Capulet families that ends in tragedy for the young, star-crossed lovers. French choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot's two-act ballet version reinterprets the action through flashback scenes of character Friar Laurence, as the man of the cloth reflects on how his good intentions led to a tragic end. The families' long-simmering feud is less about warfare; this performance is focused more on the protagonists' first true love and their feelings connected with that.
