The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation and local NPR affiliate, KCLU Radio 88.3 FM each celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2014 by working together to present The Capitol Steps at the Fred Kavli Theatre tonight, October 23, 2014 at 7:30 pm.

More than thirty years ago, the Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 collective years of House and Senate staff experience.

The Capitol Steps plan to bring down the house and Senate with their unique blend of music and political comedy. Each show consists of tasteful lampooning guaranteed to leave both sides of the political spectrum laughing. The troupe started in 1981, since then they have appeared on "The Today Show," "Nightline," "CBS Evening News" and for many years in specials for National Public Radio. They have performed for 5 US Presidents, traveled to all 50 states (to perform, not sight-see) and recorded over 30 albums.

The show is constantly changing, strenuously bi-partisan, and includes songs about everything in the news, such as "Putin on a Blitz," "The Big Benghazi Theory," and "Everyone Must Get Droned." If you've ever wanted to see Barak Obama sing a show tune, Nancy Pelosi sing a rock song, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie do a classical ballet, this might just be the show for you!

Single tickets are priced at $25-45 with group discounts available. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or through the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box Office, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
