All That Jazz! Hoff-Barthelson Music School Jazz Students Perform in Chase Park Image

Students from Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Jazz Studies Program perform a program of jazz standards entitled "All That Jazz" in Scarsdale's Chase Park, 32 Chase Road, on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 5:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. The concert is free of charge.

"All That Jazz" features several of the School's superb jazz ensembles performing the music of Horace Silver, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon and Miles Davis.

Hoff-Barthelson's Jazz Studies Program is under the direction of jazz saxophonist Ed Palermo, a well-known performer and recording artist. Palermo has appeared on "The Daily Beast's" list of "The 40 Most Intriguing Musicians" for his work in rock repertory big band, and has been featured in "JazzTimes." His most recent recording "The Great Un-American Songbook Volumes 1 & 2," a tribute to the rockers who ruled the AM and FM airwaves in the 1960s via successive waves of the British Invasion, received a rating of 4 out of 4 stars from "Downbeat" magazine. In addition to Palermo, the School's jazz faculty is comprised of several of the most distinguished jazz artists in the New York area including William Komaiko, Rolf Sturm and James Weidman.

Hoff-Barthelson incorporates private lessons, jazz ensembles and jazz improvisation, arranging and theory into its comprehensive curriculum for students of all ages. The Jazz Studies Program presents three concerts each year; students and ensembles have additional opportunities to perform during recitals and music festivals throughout the year.
