The bright lights of a big city can only illuminate so much; many important moments happen under the glow of a rural night sky.

Colonel Richard W. Block's new book, "Life as I Lived It: Small Town Country Living," shares over 100 short stories celebrating small town, America.

"The book's goal is to bring a smile to the face of readers and make them want to read more and more," Block said.

As an Eagle Scout, avid sportsman and instructor for the department of Wildlife, Block's active lifestyle has introduced him to many unique people and experiences. He also spends his time with knights of Columbus and the West Point Cadets of Indiana.

From learning to hunt to reminiscing on youth and small town living, Block provides readers with plenty of short stories they can find joy in and learn from. With so many different topics, readers of all ages and lifestyles can find something that appeals to them.

"I have always wanted to write a book of short stories, sharing things I have experienced throughout life that other people could relate to or learn from," Block said. "I'm not quite as old as dirt, but I'm getting there!"
