Charles Cobb remembers growing up in London during the German bombings of the city. He has a deeply-ingrained familiarity with war - something that has persisted throughout his life. Drawing from a lifetime of firsthand war knowledge, Cobb delivers his new historical action thriller, "The Goliath Stone" (published by Trafford Publishing).

"The Goliath Stone" takes readers back to World War I. Miles Armstrong, a multi-lingual fighter pilot battling on the front lines of the action, is ordered to be reassigned to the foreign office. In his new post he is tasked with using his language skills on an important mission in Rumania - to rescue Queen Marie from the advancing Germans. What's more, he is given the secondary mission of liberating the Irish crown jewels, which have come into the custody of the king of Rumania. The most notable of these jewels is a mysterious diamond called the Goliath Stone.

The man stood there, breathing in the cold night air. Minutes passed. A drop of melted snow from the countess's body splashed beside the man. Armstrong tensed, his knife in hand, ready to throw, but the man knocked out his pipe against the wall and went back inside. Armstrong ran forward as her ice-cold body was lowered into his arms. He felt a pang of conscience, but suppressed it as the rope end came snaking down. He stood for a moment watching O'Reilly come down the drain pipe like a human fly, then he ran for the cover of darkness.

Based on historic events of World War I, "The Goliath Stone" has all the action fans of thrillers could want, deftly interspersed with historical references to satisfy the discerning appetites of historical fiction readers.
