A determined couple must take the law into their own hands in "Unlikely Allies" (published by AuthorHouse), the new novel by Kathe Arendt that's filled with twists and turns on every page.

Karen Anderson grew up knowing she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps by becoming an FBI agent. She worked hard and achieved her goal before her 22nd birthday, but her career was abruptly cut short after she was forced to choose between completing an assignment and staying loyal to her best friend.

After resigning from the FBI, Karen moved to Florida to work at a country club. There, she meets James, a single father, and the two begin a relationship and a romance quickly blossoms. When James' daughter is killed, the police rule it a suicide and refuse to further investigate the case. Taking matters into their own hands, Karen and James pursue the killers with the help of Miguel, a wealthy Brazilian with a dark past. Together, the three search for justice on their own terms.

An excerpt from "Unlikely Allies":

"We had a light dinner and James and Miguel were outside smoking a cigar while I stoked the fire in the study. I couldn't hear anything they were saying but neither of them appeared particularly interested in the conversation. I heard the faint sound of an engine approaching the house and I quickly joined them outside. Two black Range Rovers were slowly driving towards the entrance of the wine cellar and Miguel dropped his cigar in the tall ashtray and turned back towards the house."
