'Free Rent' is Released

By: Mar. 20, 2014

According to Gallup, when asked over the last five years what is the biggest problem America currently faces, more than 50 percent of Americans said: the economy. So what can average citizens do to make government more responsive?

With a serious political message, author B.D. Rasmussen uses entertaining satire to illustrate the relationship between government and citizens in the new book, "Free Rent". Following the story of a country gone bankrupt, "Free Rent" illustrates current economic conditions worldwide and the overwhelming desire of people wanting security in their lives.

"My book focuses on how a country can overcome adversity by trusting its citizens to understand what is best for their futures," Rasmussen said. "Through humor, I hope people will question their everyday lives."

Beyond just a political satire, "Free Rent" illustrates how complacency can take control of our lives on many levels. Showcasing a wide variety of hardships, this book exemplifies the emotional and spiritual resilience it takes for families and individuals to overcome adversity through their own efforts.

"Government and the rule of law is important," Rasmussen said. "We as citizens need to become more responsible in achieving what we want from our government."
