A. E. Degnan aims to clear the believed misconceptions of some readers and the unawareness of others regarding the documented excesses of the Third Reich period through the eyes of fictional characters in "The Bismarck Memorandum" (published by AuthorHouse). Supported with personal research and extensive studies, this historical tale connects the dots on this bizarre and unforgettable period in history through a new and unique approach.

In the chaotic collapse of Nazi Germany, four people die and four others disappear - separately and without a trace - along with a small fortune of stolen gold and artworks. The obscure incident generates a cryptic Memo which disappears into history when the Third Reich falls. Years later, when the Memo resurfaces and the killings begin again, the unsuspecting descendants suddenly find themselves in an urgent - and deadly - race for answers.

"The 'story-within-the-story' (the 'history,' as it is called in the book) firmly attaches the fictional characters to the historical background. Aside from explaining the long-seething motivations for the fictional incident which generates the Memorandum, the 'history' provides an accurate outline of the astounding sleight-of-hand used by Germany in illegally rearming between the Wars," Degnan on the take of his book. "The deeds, misdeeds and mysteries of the Third Reich will continue to surface, shocking and amazing us, for years to come."

"The Bismarck Memorandum" shares a snippet:
The Schmeizer erupted with a roar, jerking upward with amazing force. Stunned, he staggered, fought it, brought it down, sprayed it left and right, concussion stinging his face. He turned his head, keeping them in sight through slitted eyes - jerking, spinning, their arms flailing - geysers of earth behind them, bark exploding from the trees. Mesmerized by the roar, he held the trigger. The motorcycle rocked with a metallic clang! Ricochets whined away. Glinting shards flashed through smoky sunlight. The saddle exploded in a spray of cotton padding and suddenly they were all down and there was just erupting earth and exploding trees and he held the trigger long after the jerking stopped because the roar just went on and on . . .
