Blackfriars Theatre Presents THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

By:

Blackfriars Theatre Presents THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW ImageHailed by Time Magazine as "campy trash," Blackfriars Theatre is proud to present The Rocky Horror Show on October 26th - November 11th. This 70s cult classic will star Rochester's favorite local drag queen, Mrs. Kasha Davis, as the "Sweet Transvestite," Dr. Frank 'n' Furter. Mrs. Kasha Davis has made a name for herself in the Rochester community and beyond - performing nationally, starring in Season 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race, and in house at the theatre's wildly popular Drag Story Hour.

With favorite songs like "Damn it, Janet!" "Hot Patootie," "Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me," and "The Time Warp," audiences can expect the Rocky experience they have come to know and love, accompanied by a few twists that result from presenting the piece in the theatre's intimate space. Blackfriars Theatre's Artistic & Managing Director, Danny Hoskins, is at the helm as director.

"One of the most exciting things about bringing The Rocky Horror Show to Blackfriars is finding creative and original ways to not only meet the expectations of the iconic, rock musical, but also to turn the familiar story on its ear," says Mr. Hoskins. "Rocky will feature a great deal of new and unique technical wizardry and theatrical magic that has never been seen on the Blackfriars stage before. We're challenging ourselves to bring a very special and one-of-a-kind spin to this campy classic!" One of the unique spins Danny is referring to is the inclusion of public figures playing the role of the Narrator for a number of performances. Audiences can look forward to seeing Dr. Bill Valenti of Trillium Health, Norma Holland of 13WHAM News, Pat Rivers of Warm 101.3, and Assemblyman Harry Bronson portraying the role - with more celebrity narrators and dates to be announced soon.

This production is the fastest selling show in the history of the theatre, pointing to Rocky's ability to captivate and delight audiences in all of its reincarnations. The artistic staff of this production encourages the many call-outs and moments for audience participation associated with the Rocky Horror legacy. Unfortunately, the throwing of toast, rice, water, and other perishables onto the stage will be strictly prohibited. All information about permissible props and etiquette can be found at blackfriars.org.

The Rocky Horror Show cast includes Jordan Bachmann (Ensemble), Mark Brummitt (Narrator), Philip Detrick (Ensemble), Lexi Gleichauf (Ensemble), Tina Hoffman (Ensemble), Dan Howell (Rocky), Ed Popil/Mrs. Kasha Davis (Dr. Frank 'n' Furter), Kit Prelewtiz (Magenta), Emily Putnam (Ensemble), Danielle Raymo (Janet), Abby Rice (Columbia), Edward Rubenacker (Brad), J.
