A fresh and intimate revival of You Can't Take It With You, the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1936 comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, is set to return to the New York stage this spring for a limited run at The Brooklyn Center for Theater Research.

Directed by Katie Devin Orenstein and produced by Emma Hart - granddaughter of Moss Hart - alongside Cassidy Gyetvan and Andy Petrilak, this production marks the first major NYC staging of the classic since its acclaimed 2014 Broadway revival. With its enduring message of radical joy, individuality, and resistance to economic conformity, this new take feels more relevant than ever in today's cultural and financial climate.

Set during the Great Depression, You Can't Take It With You follows the delightfully eccentric Sycamore family, whose free-spirited lifestyle turns convention on its head. It's a comedic but deeply moving story about choosing people over profit, and finding joy in the chaos.

The production features a dynamic ensemble cast including:

  • Catherine Lloyd Burns (Malcolm in the Middle) as Penny Sycamore

  • Cassidy Gyetvan as Alice

  • Emma Hart as Essie

  • Tony Triano as Grandpa

  • Tomias Robinson, Malcolm Minor, Sid Ross, Jahir Borgo-Christian, Jakov Schwartzberg, Will Bruno, Grace Melville, Colleen Werthmann, Steve Schroko, Nigel Berkeley, Sofia Terceros, and Nic Inglese.

The show will run from May 22 to June 1 at the Brooklyn Center for Theater Research, with performances scheduled nightly from 7:30-9:30PM.
