Player's Shakespeare, a multi-tiered arm of Gallery Players, in collaboration with South Brooklyn Shakespeare and The Rogue & Peasant Players announces a celebratory reading of the entire Shakespeare Canon along with the opening of Player's Shakespeare-Studio to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the death of The Bard.
2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the loss of the man widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist.
Kicking off the New Year, Player's Shakespeare will begin their commitment to read all of Shakespeare's plays by the end of 2016. This will take place over 4 jam-packed weekends covering The Histories (April 1-3), The Comedies (July 1-3), The Tragedies (August 5-7) and The Romances (October 30-November 2).
The free readings will be "on your feet" recitations by any and all interested in participating, although spectator positions are also available and encouraged.
In addition, 6 weeks prior to each weekend, Player's Shakespeare-Studio will open its doors with acting and technique classes specifically geared toward the upcoming genre of plays. Students in the classes will then be able to put their training to practical use as core participants in the Canon readings.
We've recently completed the first weekend of our year long bash and we are gearing up for our second weekend (The Comedies) and we'd like to invite one and all to come and enjoy the wit of Will.
