Justin Sayre's RITE OF WATER to Premiere 10/26 at Jalopy Theater

American poet Hart Crane (1899 - 1932) stands sometimes unsteadily in the pantheon of American literature. Adored by the likes of Tennessee Williams and Harold Bloom, Crane's works and tumultuous life continue to fascinate and intrigue readers 80 years after his suicide in 1932. Using Crane's poetry, letters, and original work based on events of his life, Justin Sayre (The Meeting*, Night of a Thousand Judys) creates a life scape for the troubled poet, in his new work, A Rite Of Water: An American Passion PlayStarring Chris Tyler, Nicholas Gorham, Ryan Streit, and Alston Brown on Saturday, October 26th, 4pm at Jalopy Theater - 315 Columbia Street, Red Hook Brooklyn off the Carroll Street F/G.

This event is the final part of On the (Queer) Waterfront: Brooklyn Histories is a scatter-site-specific investigation of the queer histories of the beloved borough where the museum got its start. Through a series of performances, talks, community gatherings, and related events, it will explore the waterfronts and the stories they hold, starting new conversations about the queer history and contemporary life of Brooklyn.

The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History is a grassroots organization that celebrates the rich, long, and largely unknown histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Through community-sourced, locally-focused multimedia exhibits, the Museum looks to foster connections and reflect the ways in which LGBTQI folks are the best (and sometimes the only) keepers of their histories.
