CHICHA LIBRE To Play Only Nyc Show Of The Season At Baby’s All Right
Barbès and CUMBIA VORTEX present the show, with special guests MILAGRO VERDE
Barbès and Cumbia Vortex will present CHICHA LIBRE in Brooklyn, marking the band’s only New York City performance of the season. The concert will take place May 30, 2026 at Baby’s All Right, with Milagro Verde set to open the evening.
Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., with the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg venue located at 146 Broadway.
The event is part of the ongoing Cumbia Vortex series, an extension of Barbès’ Tropical Vortex programming, which has previously featured artists including Meridian Brothers, Son Rompe Pera, La Perla, and Banda Chuska.
Formed in 2008, Chicha Libre helped introduce psychedelic cumbia and chicha to North American audiences with its debut album Sonido Amazonico, a tribute to 1970s Peruvian music. The group has since toured internationally, with performances across the United States, Europe, and Latin America, and has collaborated with artists including Los Mirlos, Son Rompe Pera, and Los Bitchos.
Following an extended hiatus, the band resumed touring in 2025 and now performs with a lineup that draws from multiple musical traditions, reflecting the backgrounds of its members from across the Americas and Europe. The group’s current sound blends traditional chicha influences with improvisation and contemporary arrangements.
The current lineup includes Olivier Conan, Joshua Camp, Karina Colis, Dan Martinez, Neil Ochoa, and Stephen Ulrich.
