Brooklyn Music School Announces Music And Mindfulness Meditation Classes For Adults And Seniors Image

Brooklyn Music School (BMS) announces Music and Mindfulness Classes for adults and teens and Golden Calm sessions for seniors beginning September 30, 2018. Group sessions and classes run in 10-week cycles. All classes take place at 126 St. Felix Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217. Registration starts at $20-25/class and is available at https://www.brooklynmusicschool.org/music-therapy.

BMS Music and Mindfulness Classes are offered under the auspices of the new Music Therapy Department launching October 2018. In addition, BMS will offer a variety of Music and Mindfulness Classes for adults and seniors on Monday mornings and Friday evenings.

BMS offers music therapy services by board-certified, licensed music therapists and highly skilled sound meditation practitioners. The creative arts therapies are becoming increasingly integral to recovery in hospitals and are found to be invaluable in helping with behavioral issues in schools.

BMS music therapists utilize the latest techniques in therapeutic and wellness practices for all clients

and maintain compliance with the HIPAA and AMTA Codes of Ethics & Standards.

Class Descriptions:

"Music and Mindfulness"

Music and mindfulness groups focus on contemplative practice in deep listening, relaxation, and connection through music and sound. Over the course of 10 weeks, students will be taught the basics of the practice of mindfulness and meditation and will be given tools to create their own mindfulness meditation practice with sound and music.

Enrollment 15; 60min; 10-week sessions; Mondays 9 am - 10 am; Fridays 7 pm - 8 pm; $25/class when purchasing the 10-week set; $35/class for drop-ins

"Golden Calm"

For senior groups, ages 60 and up, the classes help with, focus, memory enhancement, gross and fine motor skills, and social connection through music, gentle yoga stretches, breath work and guided meditation.

Enrollment 15; 45min; 10-week sessions; Mondays 10:30 am - 11:15 am; $22/class
