One of the most famous musicals in the world, MAMMA MIA! arrives in Brazil for a season at Teatro Abril, presented by Bradesco Seguros e Previdência, and co-sponsorship Cielo and Telefonica. A smash hit that has been translated into 14 different languages including Japanese, Italian, Swedish, Korean, Danish, French, German, Spanish and Russian, MAMMA MIA! will now come to Brazil in a Portuguese language version to be presented in Sao Paulo beginning next November 10th (premiere guests) and November 11th (general public).

MAMMA MIA! is simultaneously being presented in seven different theaters around the world, including the original production in London, Broadway and the national tour in the United States as well as Australian, Korean, Japanese and International tours. Over the next year, productions of MAMMA MIA! will premiere in Milan, Copenhagen, Paris, China, Madrid and South Africa.

MAMMA MIA! has been hailed by critics as the "#1 Musical in World." Following its success over the past 11 years since premiering in London in 1999, MAMMA MIA! has premiered in more cities worldwide faster than any other musical in history.

MAMMA MIA! is based on songs from the Swedish super group ABBA, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. It was originally produced by Judy Craymer and Richard East who, together with Andersson and Ulvaeus in 1996, took the first steps to bring MAMMA MIA! to the stage three years later.

MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. with choreography by Anthony Van Laast, production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

The Brazilian production of MAMMA MIA! will feature original scenery and costumes, with lyrics in Portuguese and a cast entirely from Brazil (to be announced shortly).

Considered a global phenomenon by the international press, MAMMA MIA! has made musical theater history in only eleven years, and has become the gold standard of the form on the main stages of Europe, as well as on Broadway in New York City and across the United States.

MAMMA MIA! has currently been seen by over 42 million people and has grossed over US$ 2 billion in tickets sales in over 240 cities and 30 different countries.

Inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs, writer Catherine Johnson's sunny, funny tale of family and friendship unfolds on a tiny Greek island. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. ABBA's hit songs including "Dancing Queen"; "The Winner Takes It All"; "Money, Money, Money" and "Take A Chance on Me" are all featured in this feel-good night of fun and laughter.
