Aztec Two-Step, with their special brand of harmony and musicianship, became synonymous with Folk-Rock music of the 70s. From a chance meeting at an ‘open mic night’ in Boston in 1971, Neal Shulman and Rex Fowler’s first four albums left an indelible mark on the genre. Over the decades that followed, the duo released another 12 albums, toured worldwide, and were recently inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame. Following Neal’s retirement in 2018, Rex has continued their musical legacy with Aztec Two-Step 2.0 alongside his wife, Dodie Pettit. An accomplished songwriter and recording artist, Dodie was a member of the famed All-Girls Bands of the mid-1960s “The Untouchable” and “The Enchanted Forest.” She's also a former Principal Dancer for the American Repertory Dance Company, which led to a distinguished 15-year career on Broadway as an original cast member of “Phantom of the Opera” as well as appearing in “CATS” and “Titanic.” The ATS 2.0 full band will also include Steven “Muddy” Roues, Peter Hohmeister and Joe Meo. Aztec Two-Step 2.0 has recaptured the multi-layered dimension of Rex & Neal’s original studio recordings, performing favorite ATS classics and old forgotten gems, with the stage patter is still as engaging, fun, and poignant as ever. “The old songs done in this new lineup has brought new life to the music. This truly is a band that people need to experience!!” ~ Ron Olesko, WFDU-FM/ Folk Music Notebook
