Voices of Strength to Raise Money for THIS IS TREATMENT, 6/21

By:

To see an addict kick her addiction and go on to lead a full, productive life is inspiring. To see such a person dig deep to use that experience to make art is phenomenal. Elizabeth Addison is such a person. Many of her friends and colleagues are lining up to help make her musical, This is Treatment, a reality.

Says Addison, "This is Treatment is a story that needs to be told. We have seen what drug addiction and alcohol abuse can do to family and friends, and many of us have desperately pleaded for our loved ones to get some help --- but what does help look like? Ever wish you had a window in? Through laughter, sadness, joy and tears, music and dance, This is Treatment shows the resilience of the human spirit, the ability to hope in a world full of doubt, to get help and start on the path of rehabilitation."

Voices of Strength, a fundraiser taking place on June 21, 2014, will feature the cast of This is Treatment with a selection of songs from the musical as well as other local female artists, providing an exciting and varied evening. Special guest performers include Vanessa White's Lipstick Criminals, Singer Mali of the band Jaggery, Flamenco Dancer Yosi Karahashi, and Spoken Word Artist Letta Neely. Funds raised will be used to mount a performance of This is Treatment in the Fall of 2014, as well as to bring the show to treatment facilities, halfway houses, homeless shelters and schools.
