VENUS IN FUR Opens 9/18 at Provincetown Theater

By:

The CTEK Arts Cape Cod premiere of VENUS IN FUR, by David Ives, opens September 18 at the Provincetown Theater in a three-week run.

Margaret Van Sant directs this seductive and sexy comedy. VENUS IN FUR features Kat Connelly as Vanda, an actress desperate to audition for a challenging role beyond her reach, and Spencer Keasey, as Thomas, a beleaguered director desperate to find the perfect sophisticated actress for his script.

Heralded as "...ninety minutes of good kinky fun." by the New York Times, VENUS IN FUR explores the dynamics of power in the rehearsal room, as the actor and director work through the script, an adaption from Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's novel, VENUS IN FURS. Soon an erotic exploration of domination and submission unearths repressed desires as each tests the will of the other.

Both actors have performed at the Provincetown Theater in the past year. Kat Connelly performed in last fall's CTEK Arts Women's International Theater Festival and Spencer Keasey performed in last summer's hit production of THE NORMAL HEART. Both actors have also appeared in readings and workshops throughout the year.

The CTEK Arts creative team is composed of well-known Cape Cod designers: Michael Steers is the set and lighting designer, Carol Sherry is the costume designer, Nathan Leigh is the sound designer and Sarah Beals is the Props Master.

VENUS IN FUR by David Ives runs Thursday through Sunday, September 18 - October 5 at 8PM, except for Saturday, October 4, when the performance is a matinee at 3PM. The Provincetown Theater is located at 238 Bradford Street. Tickets may be purchased at www.provincetowntheater.org or by call the Provincetown Theater at 508-487-7487.
