Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River, MA will once again become a place where the past comes alive. For the third time, The Fall River Garden Club, The Fall River Historical Society and The Little Theatre of Fall River, Inc. will combine their talents for a fundraising event called "History Underfoot III". Sponsored by Citizens Union Savings Bank, this unique "tour" will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 11 am - 3:30 pm, with a rain date of October 11.

"History Underfoot" is a walking tour of the Oak Grove Cemetery led by guides that point out many of the interesting facts and artifacts that the cemetery holds. The tour guides will lead you to seven gravesites where actors portray certain individuals giving insights into their personality and accomplishments. This tour will center on individuals who knew Lizzie Borden, and we'll hear their version of just what happened more than 100 years ago. Some of the notable characters include Reverend Buck, missionary and friend to Lizzie; Dr. Seabury Bowen, the Borden family's physician and neighbor; Andrew Jackson Jennings, Lizzie's defense attorney; and Adelaide Churchill, the Borden's next door neighbor.

Tickets are $15.00 and available in advance at the Historical Society or at the gates on the day of the event. Informational tables provided by the three sponsoring non-profit organizations and the Friends of Oak Grove Cemetery will be located at The Prospect Street Gates' waiting area. Local harpist Judy Mitchell and key board accompanist Gerard LaChance will provide background music.

So, put on your comfortable walking shoes and join us for a trip back in time.
