The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess Day Held In Boston 9/30

In honor of the 76th anniversary of the world premiere, Mayor Thomas M. Menino proclaims Friday, September 30, 2011, as "The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess" Day in the City of Boston.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) is one of the country's most celebrated regional theaters and the winner of numerous awards - including the Tony Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Elliot Norton and I.R.N.E. Awards. The A.R.T. was founded at Harvard University by Robert Brustein in 1980, who served as Artistic Director until 2002, when he was succeeded by RoBert Woodruff.
