'Tea at Five' at Foothills Theatre in Worcester
Tea at Five, an in-depth and endearing look into the life of the legendary Katharine Hepburn, is playing at the Foothills Theatre in Worcester through March 2. Written by Matthew Lombardo and based on Ms. Hepburn's book Me: Stories of My Life, the one-woman show stars Amelia Broome in her Foothills debut and is directed by Artistic Director Russell Garrett.
The play begins in 1938 when the young actress escaped to her family's Connecticut home after being labeled "box office poison" following a series of film flops. Despite her appearance in several hit movies and winning an Academy Award, she struggles to gain respect in Hollywood. Act two travels many years down the road (1983) when an older, still feisty Hepburn reflects on both her accomplished career and her long, heart-breaking romance with actor and frequent co-star Spencer Tracy.
Tickets for Tea at Five are $30-$35 and are available at the Box Office (508-754-4018) or online at www.foothillstheatre.com.
