Following sold-out runs in New York and San Francisco, as well as a critically acclaimed run at Central Square Theater last year, Catalyst Collaborative@MIT welcomes back Gioia De Cari's one-woman tour-de-force, TRUTH VALUES: ONE GIRL'S ROMP THROUGH MIT'S MALE MATH MAZE. In her autobiographical solo show, writer/performer and recovering mathematician, De Cari offers her opinion on the question: Are women inherently inferior to men in math and science, as Lawrence Summers, then President of Harvard, suggested in 2005? TRUTH VALUES will play at Central Square Theater September 8th through September 26th, with press night set for Thursday, September 9th at 7:30 PM.
TRUTH VALUES returns to the Central Square Theater after a sensational run last fall, which captivated critics and audiences. Originally scheduled for an 8 day run, an additional week was added due to overwhelming audience demand, with the entire engagement selling out. After its success at Central Square Theater, TRUTH VALUES went on to sold-out runs in New York and San Francisco. In TRUTH VALUES: ONE GIRL'S ROMP THROUGH MIT'S MALE MATH MAZE, Gioia De Cari shares her experiences in the exotic boys club of higher mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While making the most of the comic absurdity of being pawed by nerds, asked to serve cookies at a seminar, and retaliating with provocative fashion experiments, TRUTH VALUES is also a serious exploration of the world of elite mathematics and the role of women in science. Nominated for Best Solo Performance of 2009 by the Independent Reviewer of New England and winner of Outstanding Solo Show at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival, TRUTH VALUES has been hailed by critics and audiences alike.Videos
