Stoneham Theatre presents Sinfully Spectacular ALTAR BOYZ

By:

Altar Boyz is a foot-stomping, rafter-raising, musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy band on the last night of their national 'Raise the Praise' tour. The Boyz are five all-singing, all-dancing heartthrobs from Ohio: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan, and Abraham. With their tight harmonies, tight pants, and spectacular choreography, these boyz won't rest until they lift the soul of every single member of the audience. Directed by Tyler Rosati and Ceit Zweil, and Choreographed by Ceit Zweil, performances run from March 23-April 9, 2017. Press Opening is Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3:00pm.

"When I looked into the script and the score, I discovered that the show certainly delivered on its promise to be a hilarious, clever and good-natured satirical homage to Christian church services and the boy bands of the 1990s. Having had an incredibly successful Off-Broadway run (more than 2,000 performances), it belongs to that category of shows I particularly enjoy experiencing as an audience member; it is intimate, big-hearted, a bit off-the-wall and very, very funny," says Director and Choreographer Ceit Zweil.

With a Book by Kevin Del Aguila, Music and Lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, and Conceived by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport, Altar Boyz ran successfully for five years, becoming the 9th longest running off-Broadway show, and received several awards including the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.

Shares Director Tyler Rosati, "Audiences will get their fill of amazing vocals, dynamic characters, and some truly funky fresh choreography, but at the end of the night I think they will leave realizing how powerful and important our friendships are. I also think the audience is really going to enjoy just how much they are part of every performance. This is a show where the actors and the audience really get to connect and explore together, and those are the types of shows that are most exciting to me."

The Altar Boyz cast features Sean Mitchell Crosley as Luke, Ricardo Holguin as Juan, Michael Levesque as Matthew, Michael Jennings Mahoney* as Mark, and Bryan Miner* as Abraham.

The design team is comprised of Scenic Designer Jenna Lord, Lighting Designer Jeff Adelberg, Costume Designer Chelsea Kerl, Music Director Matt Stern, Sound Designer John Stone, and Props Master Sarah Elizabeth Bedard.
