Steps Off Broadway to Present CHITTY, CHITTY, BANG, BANG!

By:

Steps Theatre is flying in the "fantasmagorical" Broadway musical Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang! It is the very first time this production is to be staged by a regional theatre in the Greater Boston Area. Based on the 1968 Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins) tuneful film, the musical centers around an eccentric inventor and his flying car.

Producer Keith Mottola is pulling out all of the stops for this magical production. "We've flown a Chitty replica car in to Bellingham from Los Angeles, CA, as well as our leading man, Kristopher Kyer." Mr. Kyer is a professional actor from Hollywood, who most recently appeared as Fagin in Oliver this past summer at STEPS. He is a "Dick Van Dyke-alike" and portrayed Mr. Van Dyke in the recent Disney film Saving Mr. Banks starring Tom Hanks as Walt Disney. Kyer brings a plethora of stage, TV and film credits to Bellingham. "Bellingham has become my theater family away from Hollywood!" he exclaims. "The audiences and fellow actors here keep me coming back. Chitty is going to be that one of a kind family show that everyone will enjoy. You simply must bring the kids to see how we fly the enchanted Chitty car."

With a cast of 30, the show will recreate the famous movie with colorful costumes, the Vulgarian Baron and Baroness trying to acquire the car for their own, two incompetent silly spies, and of course the lovely Truly Scrumptious character who falls in love with the inventor, Caractacus Potts. The famous hummable tunes include Toot Sweets, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, Choochie Face and many more. You will leave the theatre singing the title song!

All tickets are $20.00 (plus a small service fee of $1.25 online or $2.00 at the door). Tickets are available online at www.stepsoffbroadway.com. Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang runs February 13th and 14th at 7:30 PM and February 8th and 15th at 2:00 PM at Steps Off Broadway's own theatre located at 799 South Main Street, Bellingham, MA 02019. There will be an "Opening Night Gala" on Saturday, February 7th at 6:00 PM. Tickets for Gala night are $25.00 (plus the service fee) and will include beverages, cheese, and snacks before the show.
