From Wicked composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, Pippin first premiered on Broadway in 1973 and starred Ben Vereen as Leading Player. The production went on to win five Tony Awards in 1973 and four Tony Awards for the revival in 2013. Pippin is the story of a young prince on his search for passion, adventure, and meaning. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power. In the end, though, he finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day
