When you take your (comfortable) seat in The MAHAIWE Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington Ma. you can't help imagining all the performers that have graced it's stage since it opened as a vaudeville house in 1905. No sound system then, just great acoustics. Now Berkshire audiences have the best of both worlds. The theatre has been lovingly restored to it's former self, with the added benefit of state of the art lights & sound.
I'm sure there have been many husband & wife teams to play the MAHAIWE in it's 111 year history but probably none more breathtaking than Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley. The minute they walk on stage your eyes are riveted on this elegant couple. Then their voices and song list take you on the very romantic journey of Jason's courtship of Marin. The musicianship, the arrangements (Tedd Firth & Joseph Thalken) are superb. The precision of their performance can probably only be achieved by a husband and wife so obviously in love with each other and with the music. This was Steve & Eydie on steroids and it's no wonder they are called Broadway's Golden Couple.Photo Credit: Stephen Sorokoff
