ORPHEUS IN THE BERKSHIRES Opens Tomorrow at Williamstown Theatre Festival

Williamstown Theatre Festival presents Orpheus in the Berkshires, a world premiere production made by and for the Berkshires, which opens Thursday, July 14.

Written by Lucy Thurber and directed by Laura Savia, the family friendly show is presented free of charge for four nights only: July 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30pm, and July 17 at 5:00pm. Christine Bile, of Pittsfield, will be playing the title role of Orpheus. The show will also feature performances by Rock On (Pittsfield), Common Folk (North Adams), and dysFUNKCrew (Adams), as well as choreography by Jeff and Rick Kuperman, and original music by Heather Christian. The design team includes Alexander Woodward (scene design), Wilburn Bonnell (lighting design), Dan Axe and Valentine Monfeuga (sound design), and Nicole Slaven (costume design).

The show will take place at Greylock WORKS, 508 State Road, North Adams, MA.

Community Partners include Williamstown Council on Aging (Williamstown), Williamstown Youth Center (Williamstown), Berkshire Community College (Pittsfield), Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) (Pittsfield), and Soldier On (Pittsfield), as well as other friends, MCLA (North Adams), St. John's Church (Williamstown), Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (North Adams), Discover Pittsfield (Pittsfield), and Starlight Stage Youth Theatre (Williamstown).

Funding for the research and community engagement for Orpheus in the Berkshires is provided by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Additional support for Orpheus in the Berkshires provided by: AnDrew Martin-Weber, The Feigenbaum Foundation, MountainOne Bank, and Ellen J. Bernstein. This program is supported in part by grants from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshires and the Pittsfield Cultural Council, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
