The North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB), a nonprofit dance company based at the Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB) in Marblehead, Massachusetts, has been selected again to perform in the José Mateo Ballet Theatre Presents 9th Annual Dance for World Community Festival. The NSCB will perform on Saturday, June 10 at 5:00 pm at Sanctuary Theatre, located at Harvard Square, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The performance is free and open to the public.

"The North Shore Civic Ballet Company is delighted to perform again in this festival that brings the arts together. This event highlights the vitality and support of the arts in the community," said Artistic Director Paula K. Shiff.

The NSCB, under the direction of Shiff, will perform the works Chopin Suite and Mir, choreographed by Ivan Korn. "Chopin Suite is a choreography inspired by the very expressive and personal qualities of Frédéric Chopin, a Polish composer of the romantic era. The music itself, in its light and darker moods, complements the movements and gestures of the dancers. Mir is a comedic choreography dealing with the ups and downs of friendship with music by the Russian folksinger Vladimir Vysotsky," explained Korn.

Dancers Mia Chung and Mollie Frederiksen are featured in the performance. Chung, a junior attending Boston University Academy in Boston, has performed with the NSCB for over three years and studied at MSB since 2011. Frederiksen, who graduated this spring with a doctorate of physical therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, has performed with the ballet company for the past three years and has been involved with MSB for 12 years.
