Moonbox Production has announced that it has named Davron Monroe as Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Monroe has been involved with Moonbox Productions since its inception in 2011. Aside from being an amazing force and an undeniable presence on the Boston theatre stages, Monroe has an extensive background in project and people management with an emphasis on community involvement that centers around inclusion and belonging.

As Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Monroe will collaborate with Moonbox staff to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to ensure the fair and equitable treatment of all staff and partner organizations. Monroe will organize and oversee all staff EDI training programs as well as manage and foster active engagements with underrepresented communities that Moonbox both serves and collaborates with on a daily basis. Monroe will also serve as point person during production for all EDI related questions, concerns, and issues.

"As our company approaches its 10-year anniversary, we are taking stock of where we have been and where we want to go from here," said Sharman Altshuler, Producer & Artist Director of Moonbox Productions. "Having Davron join our team at this pivotal moment is both exciting and essential. Davron has been a close collaborator with Moonbox since our inception, so he knows the company, understands our goals and values, and brings so much to the table - expertise, wisdom, energy, insight, creative thinking and a deeply collaborative spirit. As our Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, he will be instrumental to the process of developing, defining, and implementing the path Moonbox follows into our second decade and beyond," said Altshuler.

"I feel that it is paramount that we as a theatre company go above and beyond to create a space that is committed to anti-racist policies as well as equitable treatment for all our artists and audiences," said Monroe. "It is my mission to uphold these standards by embracing the vision of Moonbox Productions and navigate ways to create unity through our joint efforts."

Moonbox Productions was founded in 2011 by Producer/Artistic Director Sharman Altshuler. Based in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Moonbox is dedicated to supporting local arts and local artists, and to connecting communities to the non-profit organizations that serve them. To fulfill their artistic mission, Moonbox taps the deep well of talent within their own communities to bring top quality theatrical experiences to stages throughout the Greater Boston area. To fulfill their social mission, they partner with a local non-profit organization for each show, giving them visibility on their website and in their promotional materials, as well as giving them access to their audiences in order to raise awareness of their cause, create connections within the community, and increase the reach and impact of their work. Moonbox has also established a youth mentorship program ("Shadowbox") and is currently launching a new company initiative ("Turning the Tide") to increase representation and opportunities in theater for Deaf and Disabled artists.
