Judy Kuhn Joins Provincetown Broadway Series, 9/8 & 9

Judy Kuhn has been nominated for three Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards for her work on Broadway in She Loves Me, the American premieres of Chess and Les Misérables, and Rags. She joins the acclaimed lineup of the Broadway at The Art House series in Provincetown, on Sept 8 and 9 for two shows only. Series host Seth Rudetsky joins her at piano. Judy has also appeared on Broadway in Two Shakespearean Actors, King David, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Off-Broadway her performances include Eli's Comin' (Vineyard Theatre) for which she won an Obie Award, As Thousand's Cheer (Drama Dept.), Dream True (Vineyard Theatre), Strike Up the Band (Encores!), and the world premiere of Michael John LaChiusa’s The Highest Yellow (Signature Theatre). She returns to New York stages as Fosca in a new production of Passion directed by John Doyle at Classic Stage Co., opening in February of 2013. Elsewhere around the country, Judy has been seen as title role in The Ballad of Little Jo at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre, for which she was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award. She’s also been seen as Fosca in Passion at the Kennedy Center, as Olga in a new adaptation of Checkov’s Three Sisters by Craig Lucas at Seatlle’s Intiman Theatre, as Laura in The Glass Menagerie at McCarter Theatre, in Martin Guerre at Hartford Stage, and in Martha Clarke’s Endangered Species at BAM. She created the role of Betty Schaefer in the U.S. premiere of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, and starred in Metropolis on London’s West End for which she received a Laurence Olivier Award Nomination.

On film, Judy sang the title role in Disney's Pocahontas as well as the in the sequel Pocahontas II: Journey To A New World. Other film and television appearances include: Enchanted, Hope & Faith, Law & Order, All My Children, The Secret Life of Mary Margaret..., My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies , The Kennedy Center Honors, The Les Misérables 10th Anniversary Concert, In Performance At The White House, and the independent feature Day on Fire in which she co-starred and performed the soundtrack with John Medeski. Her concert appearances worldwide include Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, The Royal Albert Hall in London with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops Orchestra. Judy can be heard on many original Broadway cast recordings, as well as on her solo CD’s Just in Time: Judy Kuhn Sings Julie Styne, and Serious Playground: The Songs of Laura Nyro. The Art House is thrilled to welcome Broadway star Judy Kuhn to Provincetown on September 8th and 9th.
