Greater Boston Stage Company continues its 18th Season with Jack and the Giant, a joyous, heartfelt, and family-friendly new musical. This new spin on the classic fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk has a dynamic score and intriguing new characters. Co-written by Young Company alumnus Andrew Barbato and James Larsen, this production is perfect for children and adults alike.

Jack and the Giant runs November 10-12, 2017 and is directed by Tyler Rosati, "this is my second time directing a musical written by Andrew Barbato. I am so excited when working on one of his pieces because his characters have such incredible heart: they have big dreams and big wishes but don't always know how to achieve them. His pieces also have such a delightful sense of adventure full of twist, turns, mistakes, successes and surprises that make them feel both magical but also incredibly realistic. Both Andrew and I come from years working through The Young Company. Because of this, I think we share a connection and love for what theatre and stories we find thrilling and how we want to stage that theatre. It is very rare for a director to get that connection with a playwright, so I am thrilled to be working with him again."

Jack and the Giant will be performed by the Advanced Young Company Ensemble (AYCE), an audition-based performance program designed for the strongest and most dedicated young theatre artists to achieve the next level in their theatrical training. "Our education program is an essential aspect of who we are as a Theatre and we are always looking for opportunities to connect our educational programs with our work as a professional theatre," shares Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes.

?The cast features Katie Kelley (Stoneham) as the Giant, Melydia McCall (Wakefield) as the Moon, Molli Motroni (Saugus) as Jack, John Pagliarulo (Stoneham) as Mr. Pickwick, Carrie Tully (Winchester) as Princess Amelia, and Chloe Webster (Groveland) as Luna.

The design team is comprised of Assistant Director and Stage Manager Daniel Begin, Dramaturg Dori Robinson, Music Director Jay Mobley, Scenic, Prop and Puppet Designer Tori Oakes, Lighting Designer Jess Elliot, and Costume Designer Chelsea Kerl.

Jack and the Giant production credits: Book by Andrew Barbato and James Larsen, Music and Lyrics by Andrew Barbato and James Larsen. Additional Music and Arrangements by Doug Makuta and Jay Mobley.
